Hi! Im Fiona and I own Little Movers Morpeth and Northumberland South. Along with my class teacher Bave we bring our classes to you across the County of Northumberland. We cover Morpeth, Ashington, Bedlington & Blyth and love inspiring you all to be fit and active with your tots.

Having had over 10 years experience in a management role in Outstanding Primary Schools I love teaching and inspiring tots following the Early Years Curriculum but now have the advantage of running my own business so get to be a Mummy too – I definitely have the best of both worlds.

Between us we deliver over 20 classes in our area each week covering Early Years PE, Intergenerational Classes and Community family classes. Every class encourages our children to Dance, Play and keep fit every day.

This year has been an exciting whirlwind and I certainly have worked hard but it has all paid off as I was delighted to receive Little Movers franchise of the Year 2019 and I was also a finalist for Club Hub Awards 2019 – best Start up business of the year. For me one of my biggest achievements is having sell out classes term after term and such wonderful testimonials from the Care Homes and Early Years settings we work in too.  Northumberland County Council have recently endorsed our PE Lessons and are promoting them to all Early Years Managers in the area. A huge achievement which I couldn’t be prouder of.

I certainly do love my job and are I’m thrilled I took the hard decision to leave teaching to become a Little Movers Franchisee. I feel liberated, excited to go to work everyday and a very lucky lady to be a part of such a wonderful brand.

Case Study - Sam

As a mother of two and previously a Secondary school Teacher for 13 years I longed for a job that I would be passionate about, that would allow me to be the best I could be in my professional role as well as being flexible enough to allow me to be the best mother I could be to my children. These 3 things alone were a big ask!

With both of my children, I attended Gateshead’s Little Movers classes over a 4 year period and by far it was our favourite time of the week. Spending quality time with my children, being active, having fun and making memories to last a life time. I used to attend our classes and wish I was able to find a similar job and enjoy my work as much as the class leader clearly did. When a Little Movers franchise became available I was instantly interested. Although the decision was very daunting, financially it would mean leaving a secure job with guaranteed income but I knew long term it would benefit my family hugely.  I absolutely loved the Little Movers brand and I knew I wanted to be a part of its growth.

Little Movers Washington and Sunderland North was the first Franchise to start classes outside of Melanie’s original Gateshead area and I am still very proud to be able to say that. My business has given me a new passion for work and I love every aspect of my job from meeting amazing families, creating great working relationships with local businesses, working in partnership with Sunderland’s Children Centres, delivering Early Years PE within Schools, offering community sports alongside Active Sunderland, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and most of all bringing fun and enjoyments to hundreds or children across my area. From working only part time in Little Movers with only a couple of classes a weeks and a handful of children. To 2.5 years later, working Little Movers full time, teaching 140 families every week in community classes plus delivering early years PE to lots of primary school children. The love for Little Movers has well and truly been captured within Washington and Sunderland area, with it continuing to expand. From buying my business in March 2017 I have watch the business grow. From year 1 to year 2 the annual profit of the business increased by 50% and year 3 is predicted to be the same or more. Not only have I developed my own Franchise but I have expanded my role within Little Movers to recently become ‘North East Area Manager’. I am extremely passionate about this role and honoured to be able to work closely with Head office and other Franchises to continue to develop the brand and allow even more children in the future to experience Little Movers.

Starting my business and this journey means I now have a job I absolutely love, that also works around my children. I am the one taking and picking them up from school, I no longer need to miss out on events such as sports days and special assemblies and I am able to take time off with them during the school holidays. All whilst building my business, earning a good living and enjoying every minute of it.
